I brought the jade home the other day, about 2 weeks after I put the cuttings in water. They had started growing little roots while they were in the water. A few of the leaves fell off - I hope that's normal. I planted the cuttings in soil and watered well.
I also put the root end of celery into soil. I don't recall the day I started it - probably Monday night, as I think that is when I cut up some celery to take to work. It is already getting a small sprout out of the center. I hope putting it directly into soil helps it stay together and grow. I'll eventually need a sturdier pot, perhaps the teacup planter in the background (which is much larger than a regular teacup and saucer and is, for now, empty), but for now, the small, plastic pot is fine.
